Yoan Soilen, the founder of Starship3D, was born and raised in France. He graduated from the University of Toulouse Blagnac (France) in 2006 with a major in Aeronautical Maintenance. Prior to that, Yoan studied Mechanical Design and Production for 2 years at the University Jules Verne in Amiens (France), where he learned CAD design. He then moved to Canada to become a commercial pilot, flying seaplanes in Northwestern Ontario for 5 years, and since 2019 he has been flying paramedic flights with two turboprops. Yoan has always enjoyed designing and building all kinds of things. He started 3D printing in 2018.

He followed the progress of SpaceX from the beginning in Boca Chica/Starbase, Texas, and started the Starship project in November 2020. At that time, there was already a lot of Creator and many detailed renderings as well as amazing animations. However, 3D printed models of the starship were nowhere to be found. Yoan's interest in CAD and 3D printing led him to fill that gap, and he has since created a series of models that trace the Starship's evolution.
